A CSS based, W3C validated portal gateway to the online electronic databook (THED) application.
The original design specification was for a non-dynamic HTML webpage to provide basic news, information and associated external links related to this Appalachian Trail long-distance hiking website. To accomplish this, I chose to create the page using Macromedia Dreamweaver using fairly simple tabular layout and CSS styles to show that there is no need to have a hugely complicated construction in order to have a clean, interesting looking site.
I then applied a custom, validated CSS stylesheet in order to provide a flexible environment to manually edit content sections and post news updates about work related to the Appalachian Trail. Stylesheet images were created and edited within the PaintShop Pro image editing application.
To provide basic feedback functionality for site visitors, I installed a cgi-bin comment/guestbook application.
In 2012, I updated the project with the WordPress blogging application to add greater visitor interaction and enhance the online editing tools available to administrators for creation of news and hiking information.
